Handwritten Calligraphy Envelopes for Weddings & Events

There is something wonderfully special about receiving an envelope with your name beautifully written by hand.

Grace & Salt ink creates individually hand-lettered envelopes for wedding invitations, save the dates, celebrations and special events, adding a personal finishing touch before your guests have even opened what is inside.

From clean modern calligraphy to expressive brush lettering and elegant flourishes, each envelope is carefully written by hand in my Northumberland studio and can be styled to complement your wider stationery and event design.

Beautifully Addressed, One Envelope at a Time

Your wedding stationery is often the first glimpse your guests have of the celebration you are planning.

Handwritten calligraphy transforms the envelope from simple packaging into part of the invitation itself.

Each guest name can be individually lettered in a style chosen to suit your stationery, whether you are looking for something contemporary and understated, romantic and flowing, or bold and expressive.

Envelope calligraphy can be used for:

  • wedding invitations

  • save the dates

  • bridesmaid and groomsman invitations

  • rehearsal dinner invitations

  • private events

  • milestone celebrations

  • corporate invitations

  • press and brand events

Choose Your Calligraphy Style

The lettering can become an extension of the style you have chosen for the rest of your wedding or event.

Depending on the look you would like to create, your envelopes can feature:

Modern Calligraphy

Clean, elegant lettering with a contemporary feel.

Flourished Calligraphy

A more decorative option, with graceful flourishes adding a little extra detail and movement.

Brush Lettering

A bolder, more expressive style that works beautifully for contemporary celebrations and events.

If you are unsure which lettering style will work best with your stationery, I am very happy to talk through the options with you.

Ink Colours to Complement Your Stationery

Classic black calligraphy is always beautiful, but your handwritten envelopes can also become part of your wider colour palette.

Depending on the paper and project, different ink colours and finishes can be considered to complement your invitations, flowers, table styling or overall wedding aesthetic.

If you already have your stationery, you are welcome to share photographs or samples so that we can discuss a calligraphy style and colour that works beautifully alongside it.

Can I Use My Own Wedding Envelopes?

If you already have your wedding stationery and envelopes, it may still be possible for Grace & Salt ink to add the calligraphy.

Different papers, coatings and finishes behave differently with calligraphy inks, so I will need to check that your envelopes are suitable before confirming the commission.

Get in touch with details of the stationery you are using and, where necessary, I can advise whether a sample will be needed before we begin.

How the Envelope Calligraphy Process Works

Every commission begins with a conversation about your plans.

1. Tell me about your stationery

Get in touch with your wedding or event date, approximate number of envelopes and any ideas you already have about lettering style or colour.

2. Choose the details

We can discuss envelope size, colour, calligraphy style and how the finished lettering should complement your existing stationery.

3. Send your guest list

Once everything is agreed, you will provide your final list of names and addresses, carefully checked for spelling and accuracy.

4. Your envelopes are lettered by hand

Each envelope is then individually written, one by one, before the finished collection is carefully prepared for you.

If your invitations have a particular posting date, please mention this when you first enquire so that I can confirm availability and turnaround times.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book wedding envelope calligraphy?

The earlier you enquire, the better, particularly if you have a fixed date when your invitations need to be posted. You do not necessarily need to have your final guest list ready when you first get in touch. Your wedding date, approximate quantity and preferred posting date are enough to begin discussing availability.

Can you address both names and postal addresses?

Yes, depending on the style and requirements of your project. Let me know what information you would like handwritten when requesting your quotation so that this can be included accurately.

Can you match the calligraphy to my existing wedding stationery?

Where possible, yes. You are welcome to send photographs or samples of your invitations so that we can discuss lettering and ink choices that complement your existing stationery.

Can you write on envelopes supplied by my stationer?

Potentially. The envelope surface needs to be suitable for the inks and tools used in calligraphy, so I may need to test a sample before confirming the commission.

Do you only create wedding envelopes?

No. Handwritten envelope calligraphy is also available for private celebrations, events, corporate invitations and brand projects.

Do you only work with clients in Northumberland?

Grace & Salt ink is based in Northumberland and works with couples and clients across the North East, as well as selected projects further afield. Envelope calligraphy can also be suitable for clients who are able to send their stationery to me, so please get in touch to discuss your project.
