Modern Calligraphy for Weddings, Events & Brands
Beautifully handwritten details have a way of making an occasion feel that little bit more personal. From wedding place cards and bespoke signage to live event calligraphy and brand activations, Grace & Salt ink creates modern calligraphy designed especially for your occasion.
Every piece is created by hand by Rebecca in Northumberland, with commissions available across Newcastle, the wider North East and beyond.
Something made especially for you
There is something wonderfully personal about words written by hand.
Whether it is the name of a wedding guest carefully written onto their place card, a welcome sign greeting friends and family, or a personalised piece created live at an event, calligraphy turns a practical detail into something memorable.
I have been creating modern calligraphy through Grace & Salt ink since 2015, working on everything from personalised journals, intimate celebrations and wedding stationery to live events and brand commissions.
Every project begins with your ideas. Together we can consider the words, materials, colours and calligraphy style to create something that feels completely at home within your wedding, event or brand.
Wedding calligraphy
From the first beautifully addressed envelope to the place cards waiting for your guests, handwritten calligraphy can bring all of the little details of your wedding together.

Calligraphy for your wedding day
Our wedding stationery helps tell the story of your day. From the invitations that arrive months beforehand to the place cards your guests find when they sit down for dinner, those small details help create the atmosphere you have spent so long imagining.

Calligraphy FAQs
How far in advance should I enquire?
The earlier, the better. Every calligraphy commission begins with taking the time to understand your event, ideas and requirements, so that we can create the right package for you before the lettering begins.
Availability will depend on the size of your project and your event date. If you are planning a wedding during peak wedding season, or would like to book live calligraphy during the busy run-up to Christmas, I recommend getting in touch as early as possible to secure your date.
Do you only work on weddings?
Not at all. While weddings are a large part of my work, I also create calligraphy for private celebrations, corporate events, brands and businesses, as well as one-off private commissions. This can include everything from place cards and personalised stationery to live calligraphy, brand activations and bespoke hand-lettered pieces.
Can you match my wedding colours?
Yes. I have a wide range of paper, envelope and ink options available, so we can usually find a beautiful combination to complement your wedding colour palette.
I use high-quality G.F Smith Colorplan papers and envelopes, available in an extensive range of colours. For dip pen calligraphy, I can also mix watercolours and gouache to create an ink colour that works beautifully with your chosen stationery and overall wedding style.
Can you work with stationery I already have?
Absolutely. If you have already chosen your invitations or wedding stationery, I can work with your existing design to create complementary calligraphy pieces.
I can help you select suitable colours, papers and finishes for items such as addressed envelopes, place cards, escort cards and other finishing touches, so everything feels considered and cohesive.
Where are you based?
Grace & Salt ink is based in Northumberland.
I work with couples, businesses and brands across Northumberland, Newcastle and the wider North East, as well as travelling further afield for selected weddings, events and brand activations.
Do you travel for live events?
Yes. I am available to travel for live calligraphy, weddings, corporate events and brand activations, depending on the location, date and availability.
Make an enquiry with a few details about your event and location, and I will be happy to discuss what is possible.
How much does calligraphy cost?
Every calligraphy commission is different, so pricing will depend on the item, quantity, materials, lettering style and complexity of the project. You will always receive a bespoke quotation before any work begins.
As a guide:
Envelope addressing starts from £4.00 per envelope
Brush pen place cards start from £2.00 each for a first name only on a tented 80 x 100 mm card
